Life to a Schedule and some BIG decisions...

I came into the #lbloggers chat taking place on Twitter on Sunday night just as it was wrapping up - silly me! Is this a weekly event? If so, can anyone let me know the details? I'd love to join in sometime in the future, or a least read along!

Despite being too late to join in I found it very interesting to read back in some of the discussions that took place. One of the topics raised was that of post scheduling and when people blog....funnily enough the same subject has been on my mind lately.

A good number of my favourite blogs post something daily and I'd always quite liked that. I think I like a pattern. In my enthusiasm as a new blogger I was brimming over with post ideas and so posted very frequently as a result. Now my initial desire to post constantly has abated slightly I've been giving some thought to some sort of loose posting schedule.

I've always believed that the quality of a post is way more important than just trotting out any old thing in order to throw something out there every day. As I work two very long days twice a week it's just not sensible to push myself to post on those days. I think I've found a nice level of things that I like to join in with like Currently and 52. I like the direction that these little projects give me and I really enjoy seeing other people's take on them.

So, I think I'm going to try out a nice little posting pattern that I hope will fit in nicely with things here.

Once again (and I know I've said or before, but pah!) I am enjoying my little foray onto the blogging world so much. Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to comment, follow or join me as I ramble on. I really think you're all fabulous :)

On another note, as I may have mentioned (just a few) times before, I'm hoping to order a new soft structured carrier for This Baby this week from Sleepy Nico. I am so torn between fabrics! I think I've narrowed it down to just two now (either of which I'd be happy to have) but I'd love to hear your opinions?

So let me know; red apples or purple houses?

  1. Both designs are lovely but if I had to choose I'd go with purple houses.
I keep saying I am going to get don't structure on my blog but it never happens, I aim for 3 posts a week, if I manage it or more great, however if I don't I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

    1. That's a very sensible approach, I totally agree with the idea of giving yourself a rough plan, but not being too strict on sticking to it. Sometimes life just gets in the way!

I think purple houses are my favourite too, thank you for your input! :)

  2. Purple houses!! A million times. I know what you mean about blogging to a schedule. I work 7.30-6 every day but can't leave my work at work either, so am usually busy til about 9 each night- not much room for blogging! Having a steady pattern kinda focuses me and is a nice wee break too! God; sounds like I have no social life. The problem is I have too much of a social life coupled with ridiculous work load- no wonder I always look so knackered!xxx

    1. Hahaha, it doesn't sound like that, honest! Gosh that's a heavy workload though, you do well to manage to blog at all!

I was veering in a purple houses direction, but I'm definite now! Thank you for your help :)

  3. Another for the purple houses!!
I like having a rhythm to my daily posts, though I don't stick to it doggedly. I built the days around things I like to do/was posting about anyway-- now they just have a place. I don't intend to go for profit though, so I don't feel pressured to do anything in particular. I suppose it all depends on the long term goals for a blog!

    1. Ahhh, thank you! Purple houses it is! I do really like that print, it reminds me of Dutch Delft pottery which I love...

I really enjoy reading your posts, like you say you've found a nice rhythm which comes across. Fitting blog posts around your life and things that you do anyway is an excellent idea. And I know what you mean about not wanting to be a profit making blog. I don't mind reading the odd sponsored post from people, provided it feels like they have at least a passing connection with the product they're talking about. I get put off by an onslaught of wildly different reviews. I think for me having to turn a profit would just add an unnecessary pressure to something I love doing.
